Eevee is a united service platform and modular prosthetic ambulator designed for lower limb amputees that reinforces a connection to prosthetist services, occupational therapists, local support groups and a plethora of prosthetic designs.
Lower limb amputees must learn to navigate the disjointed services of prosthetic healthcare while undergoing rehabilitation and facing external public stigmas. These amputees feel alienated about their prosthetics and want to express themselves but face cost and design constraints. This has identified the need for a holistic-based service for lower leg amputees so that they may enjoy a better quality of life.
The Prosthetics and Orthotics industry, last valued at around USD 9.1 billion in 2019 is expected to continue compounding annually at a rate of 4.8% during the period of 2020 to 2027. To compete with existing companies, we have proposed an interim prosthetic solution and offer patients an affordable rounded rehabilitation experience.
Our primary objective is to unify rehabilitation services such as mental health consultants, prosthetists and support groups under one system that allows patients to recover from the trauma of losing a limb.
To account for the large deliverable list we have mapped our development timeline into three phases. Phase 1 includes the development of the rehabilitation portal application, while phases 2-3 are product based.
We aim to partner with local distribution services to further support the Australian economy and will feature procedurally designed aesthetic prosthetic peripherals which customers and brands can customise and market through our application - thereby putting the fashion flexibility in the hands of our users
The Eevee Prosthetic is comprised of a functional form altering foot to allow patients greater access to different footwear options. The Final product will build upon the existing interim prosthetic to reduce costs and establish our service within the current medical system. Coupled with Eevee is the Shroud initiative - a platform for aesthetic expression that allows us to partner with companies like Nintendo and Nike to produce branded content for events or causes.
To accurately mimic natural leg ambulation, we studied the bone structure and the various forms a user's feet must take in order to accommodate different footwear needs. Through iterative prototyping and functional sketching, we settled on our chosen design - a blend consisting of an industrialist construction to invite users to add their own personality to the device, and a functional form alternating mechanism to account for different footwares.
To capture the novel nature of our concept, a video was drafted to display the unique functionality and properties of our procedural prosthetic shrouds. We wanted to communicate the benefits of emerging technologies such as 3D printing in the public domain, and especially aimed to showcase the flexibility and potential of the service.
Introducing the first step's product portfolio and introduction video. Created to help stakeholders and initial backers visualise our 5 year timeline, the video features the Base Eevee prosthetic foot, the augmented shroud and shroud market, and presents a representation of the procedural design system running beneath the surface.
