SORDI is a step forward in the development of industrial AI and a reference for the benefits & applications of artificially generated data. The 2022 Hackathon aims to encourage the use of synthetic data in object detection models and to promote its scientific use. As a result, that is the World’s Largest Industrial AI Object Detection Challenge in 2022!
Our original direction involved featuring the iw.hub, an autonomous AMR, trained using a synthetic dataset. The viewer would be introduced to the machine as strings of sparks lead us to a digital space willed with an assortment of curated assets. Later we settled on a more familiar KLT - a purple box commonly seen in most BMW and industrial settings.
The hackathon is the first major Global event featuring Sordi - We wanted to convey the sense of scale by moving from a familiar physical ambience, through the SORDI webpage as a door to the possibilities beyond - Possibilities that may “shatter” traditional workflows.
During the RnD stage, we produced a series of style frames to settle on the aesthetic direction and composition of the final scene. The initial design saw tendrils of energy frame an assembled composition of KLTs, Boxes and other curated assets.
How can we visualise the design process - the endless outcomes from this hackathon? We imagined navigating through a void - which manifested as a vector field, then we mapped our path, again and again. Different starting positions produced different paths, and random changes in the vector field produced increasingly complex shapes - some of our RnD work is featured below.
“SORDI revolutionizes the use of AI in industrial environments and significantly simplifies the development of intelligent, autonomous systems. The tasks to be solved in the hackathon correspond to the challenges we encounter in our daily work.”
- Jimmy Nassif. CTO, idealworks GmbH & co-Founder of SORDI.ai
