While travelling, designing ideas and giving form to my thoughts was something I always struggled with. A pen and paper are my go-to tools for visual thinking but often found myself without these accessories while travelling on the bus. Samsung's Note 10+ phone gave me the chance to explore Androids offerings of digital visualization software allowed me to freely note down ideas and thoughts while on the go.
Sidereal was created as a small project tailored to train me to use the smaller screen to sketch detailed mechanical parts and establish a flexible workflow using unfamiliar software. I quickly settled into a workflow that leveraged concept apps superior linework guides to quickly build out different designs and details. The sketches were then taken into infinite painter for rendering.
The following gallery contains a curated selection of sketches created only during my commute. Developed over the last 15 months, each sketch explores different tools within the aforementioned softwares' and has contributed to a holistic understanding of an android based visualisation workflow. This project has furthered my fluency in aspects of illustration and concept sketching and can be observed in my industry work.
