Vision explores the use of Ai within the design process and outlines how I leverage emerging Ai powered tools to augment my visualisation workflow. 

FORM AND DETAIL

CONCEPT CREATION

Before attempting a hard surface build in Blender, I got into the habit of sketching for visualisation rather and manufacturing. Instead of problem-solving or looking for details, the purpose of these sketches is to look at a larger picture - of a vehicle or spaceship and exercise creativity in form and detail.

AI POWERED RENDERING 

VIZCOM 

Vizcom is a new Ai powered rendering tool created by training a neural network on vehicle reference images. The tool allows creators to input a sketch while Vizcom's Ai detects hard outlines and procedurally renders the surface details of the sketch.

SKETCH PREPARATION 

REFINEMENT

As the Vizcom images were being rendered, the analogue sketches were taken into photoshop and prepared as an overlay. This process included adjusting the contrast of the scans, creating layer masks and applying suggestive form shading.

VISUALISING DEVELOPMENT 

FINAL OUTCOME

Through the use of the Vizcom, the time spent on the final rendering stage was significantly reduced. Photoshop's smart select feature enabled easy masking and was used to constrain glare and hue layers to effectively overlap the hand-sketched drawings with the Vizcom render and digital adjustments.
